On 7 Kislev 5776, November 19, 2015, Ezra Schwartz, hy”d, an 18 year old boy from Sharon Massachusetts, a yeshiva student learning in Eretz Yisrael, was tragically murdered by a Palestinian terrorist. A few week earlier, Ezra had begun a project to learn through the entire Tanach. He had begun with Parshas Beraishis and was up to Parshas Vayeitzei at the time of his murder.
Rabbi Elisha Prero has created a project for individuals to to learn Tanach, called “Learn Tanach For Ezra”.
After speaking with Rabbi Prero and Rabbi Sendor, Ezra’s Rav in Sharon Massachusetts, I am suggesting that additionally, as a kehillah, we try to finish all of Tanach before the shloshim.
This would not only be a zechus for Ezra, Yechiel Ezra ben Ari Yona, it would be a source of comfort for his family as well as a way for us to connect with the matzav in Eretz Yisroel.
