Mrs. Leah Mann
Q: Where are you from originally?
Mrs. Mann: I was born in Czechoslovakia and came to Chicago at the age of 4. My father, Rabbi Eliyahu Chaim Berger, was the rabbi of Ahavas Achim. I’ve been a West Rogers Park resident for more than 60 years!
Q: What kinds of interesting jobs have you had over the years?
Mrs. Mann: I was a Hebrew school teacher at one point. Later, my husband, Jack a”h and I owned a dress business and had a showroom in New York. I managed the Sales for the business.
Q: Among your many special talents, is there one in particular that you would highlight?
Mrs. Mann: Yes, baking was a specialty. In fact, I used to bake mondel bread and bring it to our New York showroom. Our customers would insist on mondel bread first, business second!”
Q: It is a joy to hear so many mazel tovs extended to you in our shul announcements. How many generations are there?
Mrs. Mann: B”H we are now 5 generations with the recent birth of twin great great grandsons. I have been truly blessed to come from a wonderful family and to have wonderful children married to lovely spouses with families that are leading Torah observant lives.
Q: What about Yeshurun do you love?
Mrs. Mann: Our terrific rabbi! Also, it’s an honor to have Rabbi Schwartz as part of our minyan, and it’s a very friendly place to be.
